Lance Armstrong, who?
Sure Lance Armstrong is a great guy. He dates Sheryl Crow, does TV
appearances (did anyone catch him on Colbert last week?), and is even
a pretty good cyclist from what I hear. But I’m not impressed.
Jan Ullrich, now thats a hero! In a news conference today
Ullrich decided to announce his retirement after a doping scandal
last year prevented him from competing in the Tour de France, an even
he won in 1999 and finished runner-up on 5 (yes folks, FIVE)
different occasions.
No athlete wants to be associated with using performance enhancers
and being labeled a cheater. So what did this Einstein do? He plead
innocent of course! How did he do it?… he claimed the drug had been
spiked into an ecstasy pill he had taken at a nightclub…. !!!!!!!!
How dare anyone accuse this upstanding citizen of the world of
sports in engaging in questionable behavior?
But seriously here folks, when you have to use ecstasy as an alibi
for steroids, and get fired from your cycling team every other summer
for being overweight before every season, you might have a partying
problem. So Jan, now that you’re retired and will have a lot more
free time to party, all I ask is this: …call me dude!
